Walled Garden, Sunbury

In July MCC performed their one annual
performance which takes place in the open
air, in the Walled Garden in Sunbury by the
Thames. It is always a case of fingers
crossed for a fine day and that proved to be
the case thankfully. Eight of us entertained
the garden's visitors, led by Hugh, and we
gave our first performance of What Shall We
Do with the Drunken Sailor.

Richmond Peforming Arts Festival

Magna Carta were one of five senior choruses
participating in Richmond's Peforming Arts
Festival in early March 2019. We sang two
songs: Shenandoah and King of the Road at the
White House in Hampton and were judged to be
"Good" achieving lovely rhythms and good
syncopated figures. The picture shows us with
our new director Sarah Clay.

Royal Homes Wimbledon

In summer 2018 the chorus performed at Queen
Alexandra's Court in Wimbledon for widows and
wives of ex service officers and ex service
women. The event took place in June sunshine
at the annual garden party, with Magna Carta
alternating with a military brass band.
Sadly, this was to be the last performance
under our director Mike Spiller.

Come and Sing Course

In 2017 Magna Carta ran a five-week course
for those interested in learning to sing
4-part-harmony. Ten people took part in the
course which involved learning about
breathing and posture etc. and two songs were
learnt (also new to existing MC members).
Four of those who participated in the course
enjoyed the project enough to become members
of the chorus and they have learned the
repertoire in the months since. One of the
new songs King of the Road is now a
favourite among those sung by the chorus.

A Visit To Hampton Court

In November 2015 we visited Hampton Court
where we took part in its 500 year
celebration. Apart from singing selections
from our repertoire we joined with several
other choruses to sing a specially composed
song for the occasion.
